Our Little House is easy walking distance from some of Seattle's best coffee, restaurants, markets and retail stores. The house, formerly a garage, was completely renovated in 2013. It sits behind our main house and includes shared access to a courtyard, outdoor seating and a BBQ grill.
The house is 363 square feet and contains a sleeping loft accessed by a ship style ladder. Guests access the house through a separate gate at the end of our driveway, which opens into the courtyard. The house is quiet and comfortable complete with a kitchen, small fridge, living area and bathroom. The queen sized bed is new as of September 2016.
When Benjamin was 9, he vacationed with his family in a loft style cabin. His love of lofts started and grew from there. Originally built as a guest house for family and friends and used as an occasional home office, we decided to open it up to travelers who want to visit Seattle and in particular our community of Ballard.
Guest access
Guests have access to their own private house, an outdoor living space complete with a courtyard, gas grill and outdoor seating.
Interaction with guests
Before and during your stay, we will be accessible through the Airbnb message system to answer questions and provide recommendations to ensure a smooth stay. During your stay - if the timing works out - we may welcome our guests with a quick hello. Other than that, we leave the amount of personal interaction up to our guests.
Other things to note
We have combined our love of lofts with our love of books. For our guests, we offer a free little library of books. If a book catches your eye you can keep it. The library includes travel guides and maps that may come in handy. Please leave the maps and travel guides at the house for others to use.
The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans and cooking essentials. We offer our guests bottled water, coffee, tea and breakfast cereals.
The house contains a few games for those gamers out there. Backgammon, chess and cards are available.
The little house has a 19 gallon water heater. Hot water for showers will last about 7-10 minutes. If it runs out, it will refill after about 10-20 minutes. Please keep this in mind during your stay.
