This van conversion was completed in August 2019 and was used for a European road trip for the following 10 months. This van set up is very simple and practical making it super reliable and extremely accessible. There is a kitchen unit inside the van with a three shelved cabinet. This was used to house all crockery, cutlery, cups and dry goods. It is also the correct size to house a Campingaz 907 gas bottle (widely accessible throughout Europe) which was used with a portable cooking hob, perfect for cooking inside and out. There is a multifunctional organisational board on the kitchen wall for utensils and nick-nacks. Above the kitchen is the over-cab storage which offers very significant storage space. There is a fully waterproofed shower cubicle which is tiled. This has been used with a manual pump shower and gives the option of being able to shower within the van which is a fantastic option not offered in all vans. This is also where we housed our Thetford porta potti. There is a seating area that runs the width of the van which houses the fridge and the inverter (for powering small blenders and other higher voltage appliances).
There is also generous under bench storage and four storage boxes. The walls are painted white and there is attractive rope trim around the edging. From the rear of the vehicle there is a large under bed storage area. This is where the three water bottles are stored. They are removable which is perfect for filling up from less accessible water points and does not require the use of the hose making it super convenient to get water away from the van. The leisure battery is found under the bed also. The van has coped extremely well on all terrains and, despite not being a 4WD vehicle, she has never let us down. The van has been driven on significant inclines (in the climber’s paradise in northern Spain) and along roads that have not been paved (in deepest darkest Sweden) and she is a credit to Ford’s transit fleet.
She would make the perfect home for anyone who wanted to travel long term as has been proven from our travels, equally she would be ideal for UK staycations and day trips. She is a no frills, hardy van with so much character and would be a fantastic choice for anyone looking for adventure!
