This Mercedes is a 2.1, 6 speed diesel that we’ve driven around Europe and average 28.5 miles to the gallon. We’ve owned the van for 2 and a half years whilst we converted her and we’ve been in Europe since January 2020 and the engine has been a real star throughout this trip with it having no issues whatsoever. Before we begun this European tour we had work done to replace seals in coolant bay, suspension bushels loosened and re-oiled and replaced fuses and wiring for van electrics. Since we’ve been away in Europe we’ve had our windscreen replaced (due to a chip that turned into a crack), our front and rear break pads changed, brand new rear tires and our hand break replaced.
Our Sprinter has been converted to ensure it has all the home comforts whilst remaining super practical for travelling and living off-grid. We have been (and still are) using her to explore Europe this year and will be returning at the end of the year. We are only selling her as we want a new project to get stuck into for next year to test our skills (and relationship!) We built her with what we considered the best products we could afford to ensure she was reliable with a high quality interior for our full time home. We’ve travelled in her for almost a year now and have had no major issues with any of the work we’ve put into her apart from a faulty B2B charger that we will be replacing with a Sterling model upon return. The below is a long list of all the main components in the van:
5x 80% tint official Sprinter windows from VanPimps
Webasto Thermatop C300 diesel heating and hot water system (£1900) installed by caravan engineer providing continuous heating & hot water in around 5 minutes (genuinely only takes this long) heating up time, with thermostat control for a toasty living area, the ducts are found in the living room bench seat. Separate 10L diesel tank in kitchen unit accessible from sliding door for easy diesel fill up.

270Ah Varta Powerframe Technology LFD90 battery bank, 2000W Renogy Pure Sine Wave inverter (with 2 UK sockets in bench seat), 240V hook up kit & Victron Shore power charger, Sterling B2B charger (will be fitted on our return to the UK), 3x 100W Renogy Solar panels (mounted to the custom roof rack for easy access for maintenance if needed), Renogy 30Amp Rover MPPT Solar Controller, Victron Smart bluetooth battery monitor & shunt (with downloadable app to monitor battery level), 4x USB sockets in seating area, 1x 240v mains plug in kitchen (when on hookup only), 5 recessed LED ceiling lights, 2 LED swivel reading lights, motion sensor battery powered light in shower cubicle

Fully insulated with a mixture of recycled plastic wool, kingspan 40mm insulation board & spray foam
Fully clad interior with Briwax Walnut stain ceiling
Full length custom black roof rack from SDV Roof Racks in Clitheroe (we used to store bikes on it and a roof bag)

Shoe tidy on entry (from Ikea)
As we have travelled and lived in her full time for a year we want to be totally honest with the potential new owner of all her ins and outs. Her interior could do with a new lick of paint (it is inevitable with white paint and a dog) which we will do if she hasn’t sold by the time we’ve got back and had a chance to paint. The kitchen worktops are scuffed from constant use and wear, we would replace these if keeping her. We would also replace the Lagun table with a fixed (but still rotating) leg that is removable as there is now a little bit of a tilt in the table and isn’t ideal for working on (we currently use a secondary removable table leg to level it out). There are two shelves in the wardrobe that have bowed over time and would benefit from being replaced with slightly thicker ply (it’s a small job, we can do this before sale if needs be).The dent in the side of the van can be arranged to be fixed when back in the UK if the new owner would prefer so before sale. If she has interest before we are back in the UK and have time to improve these issues then we will take that into consideration for the price we agree on so the new owner can make these changes within the value of the van.
